Architectural Integrity
Desert Mirage emerges from the rocky landscape of Joshua Tree as if formed by the desert winds themselves. Built utilizing local rammed earth to provide thermal mass, the house blends organically with its environment during the day and acts as a glowing beacon under the starlit sky.
The design focuses on passive climate control and off-grid resilience. Large Cor-Ten steel overhangs protect the interior spaces from the blistering Mojave heat, while a series of hidden courtyards house native desert flora, offering shaded microclimates and tranquil escape points.
